I just bought a rat pup for my ball today and when I got home I noticed it has these black dots all over it. They actually don't seem completely round, more elongated. And I'd say they are dark brown as opposed to black. They don't seem to be moving at all but now I'm afraid to feed this rat to my snake. Any ideas?

Without a picture it could be dirt. I don't have a clue, are those black dots alive?

Okay, I saw one move so I decided to bring the rat back to the pet store. They said they were mites. Gaahhh, the rat was filled with them. Then she wanted to give me a different rat. I said, "no, thank you" and got my money back. Yuck. I will not be going back to that pet store again. Too bad because it's so close to my house. I did go to another store and got a rat pup from them and he looks perfect.
