A friend of mine that has one corn snake and two bps told me to only feed female mice to my bp. He said this because certain body parts on a male mice could...well...exsplode when the snake gives his prey the squeeze! LOL! My wife has had bps before and said this was a load of crap! Has anyone else heard this? Just asking.

Yea that is a load of horse manure, my snake doesnt care it eats em both and different colors, you will have more a problem with color of the mouse then the sex of it.

She's just a juvenile so I'm kinda of worried about getting something to big for her to be able to handle at the moment. But...as soon as I can get her on rats I will.

you'd be shocked how big a rat a "juvenile" can eat, lol.
Yours looks quite capable of enjoying a rat Laughing
This corn snake is eating a medium mouse, he's half the size or smaller than a ball.

Yours looks like it/he/she, lol, could easily gulp down a rat.

You might be underestimating the power of the gulp, hehe Very Happy

I agree. But...once again...my wife feels like we should wait a little bit to see how things go. I'm pretty sure she could swallow a small rat. It's the kill I'm worried about, more than the mice or rat's b**** popping like balloons like my friend says they will! Laughing When did this little myth get started anyway? Razz

So I'm guessing you haven't tried frozen/thawed yet, which some will eat em, some won't. I have the rat issues with my pastel, scared to pieces over rats, but large mice and gerboas are cherished, lol. He also won't touch prekilled anything, ergh.
If your afraid of the rat biting, you might try a frozen thawed, your snake might just surprise you and snap it up Very Happy

We got her a small rat today. I was nervous...and so scared for her! Crying or Very sad But...<SNATCH!> she got a hold of the rat and killed it like a real pro! When the deed was done, she looked out at me through the glass like she was saying,'You see? No problem!'. Laughing She got it down pretty easy also! I am so proud of her! Now that we know she can take on small rats...how often should we feed Stripe?
