Hi all, we at the wildlife museum were just donated a ball python today, that has really wierd colors. It has the black markings, but the rest of the snake is a pale yellow. I'll post a picture of it ASAP. Thanks.

Unless I am mistaken, the silver on is a morph, an Anx. Ron?

I thought that Anx. dont have brown pigment, and if you look at her head she has brown on it. Do anx. have LESS brown, or NO brown?

Can you get a closer shot of the scales, preferably near the sides closest to the belly. Axanthics lack yellow pigment.

Here's three photos of an Axanthic ball python. Notice the lack of yellow in the pigment? Please forgive the lack of detail in the photos, my lighting conditions weren't the best when I took these pictures.

We're looking at the one on the right, yes? Thanks for the comparison, It's easier to tell. So what's the verdict?

Do all Anx. have that speckled pattern? Because the weird ball has just dark and light color....dark black, and light brown. I'll try to get some more pics of it...you can just see a glimpse of the side fading in the picture above.

By who and why? or do you not know... I wonder if there are more...

It's hard to tell what the real animal looks like from picture because the lighting can effect the color so much. If you mailed it to me I'm sure identify it better... (ignore my inexperience!) Laughing

I've seen a number of snakes that look like that, both on the various forums and I have one in my collection (origin unknown).

My male that looks like that is with friends trying to get it to eat (hasn't since he mated last year). I'd like be able to tell you what his babies look like, but mama didn't lay!

From my own and what I've seen, they have a "straw" like colouration, very clean patches (low freckling), and mildly reduced pattern (no alien faces). Anyone care to share their observations?

My guess is that there is a genetic element of this patterning, but I wouldn't go so far as calling it a morph... they are gorgeous snakes though I doubt much will come from selective breeding with them.
