Sperm plugs can look like curly white strings on poop, or you can pop out sperm plugs if you use the method that is for sexing snakes. This means as if you were popping to sex him, using the same exact method. Not a lot of pressure is needed because you can get plugs without the hemipenes coming out.

thanks! i read rons blog on it and saw where popping them you could get them. i wasnt sure if at what point like after 6 months are all snakes considered to be sexually mature or does this vary by snake and or age?

im assuming most if not all male snakes should be mature (not necessarily ready to breed but producing sperm) by 1 year?

Some snakes are producing sperm at 6 months (going by what some breeders have posted).

They are usually definitely producing sperm by one year (unless something is wrong).

well yes and no LOL....

just like males of any species they can breed ( produce sperm) faster than females.

some males have bred as early as 3-5 months and some take a year ( i have found that my recessive males take longer). there is a LARGE risk at breeding males this early. some take it and do great things and other kill thier animals. during breeding the male sometimes goes off feed and if the male is young and doesnt have a fat reserve then he could starve to death..now yo may ask why wouldnt he just eat...well if hes in breeding mode food is not on the mind and death will follow.

there have been some reports of full grown males being bred to death too... ( try putting me with 30 females and i would die to Smile )

That's a risk I'd be willing to take.

I could always claim I meant I'd be willing to risk tossing Nick in with 30 females.

See? I'm covered.
