I made a hide out a cool whip container and wrapped duck tape around the hide, is that safe to be around the bp?

I assume we're talking about 'duct' tape...
But regardless, I would never put any kind of tape inside the enclosure--in an environment that is constantly warm and humid tape is liable to weaken and BPs have been known to get tape stuck to themselves and be harmed by it.

That common mistake from me comes from our family redneck roots

i don't suggest duct tape at all. my sand boa got out and wrapped herself in it. it screwed up her skin and scales for 2 shed cycles.
