|
so last night I was suprised when all 3 of my bp's were out of their hides and moving around. It started with my large female, I woke her up to check if she was acting gravid (she was stored with a male with previous owner...).
Anyway she was awake and came out to roam. This has happened before so I figured NBD right... Then something weird happened, she stayed out. She stayed out AND both my males came an stayed out. I've never seen anything like it, all three were out with the lights on in full view of company i had over. nothing scared them back in and all 3 roamed for hours. thins was especially weird to me because I fed the males this weekend and usually they sleep for dayds if not a week after a good feeding.
I have checked and re-checked temps, humidity, etc. I just can't come up with an explaination. She is STILL out and acting very funny 24 hours later. she is hardly responding to me through the glass but antering a full strike pase when i reach in the tank. last night my adult male was acting the same but has since gone to "bed".
I don't know if she is giving off some sort of "vibe" that signald the males to wake or what. But shes still up and the males keep poking their heads out to see whats up.
I've never seen behavior like this any suggestions?

-UPDATE-
she is now just sitting on top of her hide in full strike pose. I'm starting to think there might be eggs in there. she is sormally the nicest easy to handle snake I've ever had but mow she's acting ornery as hell. This is literally FREAKING me out so a response from someone experienced would be HUGE asap.

if she is out in the open and you dont see eggs there are none
when females lay eggs they will coil around them until they hatch.
when did she feed last?

still out, not coiled just sitting with her head on top of the hide. good call on the eggs nick. last feed was two weeks ago, 1 very large rat. for the last three years she's never eaten more than 1 rat every 3-4 weeks (no weight loss)
