hey all
im new to this forum
i have a two months old female ball python and i got it 1.5 week ago
my snake hasn't shed yet but i believe she's in shed mode because her underbelly is turning pinkish
i fed her about 5 days ago a fuzzy mice and she ate it within 5 mins, and today i tried feeding her an adult mouse, but she didn't even strike at the mouse
does anyone know what the problem is ?
thank you

If she is in shed she may not be interested in eating because they cant see as well and are uncomfortable in there old skin so she may be just uncomfortable and not wanting to eat, try again when she is out of her old skin.

the skin and color look duller then last week and in couple days her eyes will turn blue and then she will shed shortly after that, when you hold her you will fill dry skin on her stomatch. my will shed in between 28 to 30 days because they are young but when they get older the timing will spread further a part, hope this help to answer your question.

Ron has a great blog with a pic or two on shedding: http://rcreptiles.com/blog/index.php?s=shedding&sentence=AND&submit=Search look at the 10/25/06 post lower down.

a way to know if she is in shed is to wait a week if she doesn't shed take her to a vet a week without a feed is nothing to a bp, some bps go off feed for a couple months just because they don't want to so don't worry.

If you can post some pics it would be very helpfull. I wouldn't rush to the vet just yet if he is in shed a lot of the times they don't eat. I would wait a week and then try again. Make sure your humidity is up a little around 60 to 80 and wait for the shed. It may take longer than a week and it could be shorter. You'll know when therer in shed trust me. I wouldn't go to the vet if he doesn't shed in a week though. Just don't handle him this week and other than spot cleaning and changing water just leave him alone. Very Happy
