Keeping things in perspective. These pictures display what appears to be someone leaving the rat unattended, unfed for a few hours or days. These do not appear to be quick bites, or attacks..but an attempt to FEED.

Ball Pythons are very efficent killers. The times that they are over eager and miss the mark, if one is supervising, there is time to place the tongs in the rats mouth before he realizes that he's being constricted and any real damage is done, but by time this happens, the snake also realizes it's error and quickly wraps again.

100% Correct Deb This Ball Was Eaten By A Rat That Was Left in the cage For a Long Time.......Over Night.

I agree that the rat had to be left in there for a very long time to eat that much of the snake. I have tried feeding small rats to Drake before and the first time he struck/constricted/ate very quickly. 2nd time I tried the rat ran up to his head making him ball up and he stayed that way. I removed the rat and since then Drake wont eat rats. He only goes for mice. I have only tried 1x since then though and he was not interested. I offered a mouse an hour later and he ate it.

The Rat probably scared Drake into off feed of Rats, try again in the future though.
