Most people just have one or 0. The tubs themselves are usually pretty dark because they are covered on all sides but the front so that makes them feel secure and a lot of adult ball pythons do no need hides when they are older. Also for many if a hide was used it would take up a very large amount of the tub so there wouldn't be much room outside the hide.

in a tub you dont really need fake trees, just like you dont need to have them in a tank it helps to make it pretty and in a tank make it feel more secure but since the tub is doing that for you, they are only decoration at that point.

i have hides for some and not for others, when a female lays eggs i give her a hide afterwards. if a snake isnt eating for a few weeks i give them a hide. other than that most do not have a hide.

note: my racks are BLACK so the only light they get is from the front. this makes the tub act as a large hide

so when i decide to change her over to the rack system should i put a hide in there for her so she gets a sense of security and also should i not handle her due to the fact that she is in a new environment? cause its sort of like you getting her used to a new home.

I would give her a hide and some time to get used to it. Not as big of a deal as when they get shipped somewhere but still its a change. So yeah I would say give her a couple days to get settled in.

I have one hide in the tub for every BP. I agree that once they get bigger they don't really need one if they are in a rack system.
Fake trees are not really a necessity but they help while in shed. Whenever my snakes are shedding I put in one more piece of furniture in their tubs, any other time is just a water bowl and hide.
