I've been considering getting a GTP, however the places that im looking at online are selling them for really high prices (i understand that they arent cheap), but does anyone know where i could possibly find one that is relatively cheap?

I dont remember which ones were supposed to be more docile, but if anything i would want to get those. None for breeding purposes, so nothing thats worth 12k, but just a pet thats worth around 500 hopefully....

That price should be fairly doable. Look for $750 snakes and talk the sellers down.
For temperament, avoid Biaks. Arus have a reputation for a gentle disposition, as do Sorongs and any type from the Sorong area...go online and check out maps. For example, I have a Manokwari that's a breeze to handle, and Manokwari is a regency adjacent to Sorong.
It should go without saying that any captive bred animal will have a better temperament than a wild caught one.
Mind you, even the tame ones aren't like ball pythons. You can't just open the cage, reach in and pull one out. You remove the perch with the snake on it, gently wake him up, take your time, let him adjust to the situation, and then coax him off his perch. Each individual is different and you'll get a hang for this by trial and error. A nice GTP won't bite but it will either hunker down (i.e., hold on to the perch more tightly) or try to escape. Once off the perch they're as easy as any other snake to handle, because now you're the perch, and you represent security. Even my Biak is fairly easy once off her perch: it's getting there that's the hard part with her.
