Just after a shed my python secreted a black liquid along with some white urate. Wondering what this could be if it is a problem. He seems to be doing fine.

I usually check the temperature and parasitic attendance by dipping my finger in the feces and licking it, allowing my lips to smack while I taste it.

Send the poo to me and I'll test it out Laughing Laughing Wink

GROSS!

Sorry about that, Shortie... we're usually a lot more helpful around here... Rolling Eyes

I don't think I've heard of this before... but as with many things, if your snake is fine otherwise, there probably isn't much reason to worry. I would just keep an eye on his poops in the future and make sure they're normal. If you see this happen again, it might be a good idea to collect a sample and take it (and your snake) to a vet.

My first snake had liguidy blackish poops and urate at the same time and he died a short time later (not to say yours will to) though some temps and humidity and pics of the setup would be helpful. I didnt know what I was doing when I got my snake and it came sick so he didnt make it.

he was extremely thin and sickly but if yours is doing good then watch it till the next time it defecates and if it continues seek vet assistance.
