I came across this article in the Public Library of Science Pathogens and reproduced in the WEBMD Wire. I thought there might be a connection between tanks and houses per R.I infections.
The article reads:

Anice Lowe, PhD, and colleagues at New York's Mount Sinai School of Medicine studied the flu virus in guinea pigs, tweaking the temperature and humidity in the animals' cages. They found the flu virus spread more easily through the air at 41 degrees Fahrenheit than at 68 degrees or 86 degrees. And in low humidity (relative humidity of 20% or 35%), the flu virus spread more easily through the air than when it was more humid.

This article got me thinking..what if it IS a the low humidity and temps (as I have always thought) that help the R.I virus spread? What if higher humidity actually has no bearing on the spread of R.I.? Most of the cases that we are hearing of happen when the snakes are in tanks. The few that have happened in racks seem to have happened to those that lower temps during breeding season.
