My bearded dragon keeps biting the crap out of me every time i get him out of the cage, go near the cage and put food in it. His mother's name was Brat... should i just blame it on genes?

Some animals take longer to "hand tame." I remember reading an "expert's" directions on how to tame another kind of lizard. His instructions were to take it slow. I don't know how long you have had your dragon since you didn't give specifics.
