It's night time and he's making his rounds trying to get out Very Happy

After he starts wedging himself inbetween the lid and the plastic I take him out and line the edges so he can't do it again, but wow, what a climber.

Whoever said that ball pythons are ground snakes eat your words.

Here's a picture I took a few days ago during feeding time.

He thinks he's a cobra.

when we had Fang, he would actually slither up the side of the tank and get enough of himself up there to pop the lid, trying to make it come up-thank god for the clamps on top.

Sasha, my 200 gram '06, will try to squeeze through the 3/8" holes on her tub. Her head is about the size of my thumb. She can just get the tip of her mouth wedged in there, then she flicks her tounge, like she's tasting freedom. When the first hole she tries doesn't accomodate her girth, she'll try 3 or 4 more, just to make sure.

Anita, 700gram yearling, has a hide that is about 4-1/2" tall, and her lid sits at about 6". It's clamped tight, but still, she'll wedge herself, at the thickest part of her body, between the lid and hide, and flex with all she has. One day, she's hoping, I'll forget the clips...

And finally, the cutest thing, a male '06 I thought was a female, that I had for a week or so, would take the last 3 or 4" of tail and push his hide up, looking like a big clam with a snake inside. I'd push down gently, and he pushed it right back up, again and again. He was a beautiful light brown and yellow, not the usual dark brown into green/yellow and light brown. I really wanted him to be female, to see if the color would prove genetic, but he was really nippy, even after settling in, and Momma said no mean snakes no matter how beautiful, especially with the kids around. A friend offered to take him and give a good home, but he's half the state away, so no breeding opportunities. Still, I made double my $ on a python I cared for exactly 19 days! Ron's slithering pot of gold, right?

Mine do the same thing in their rack..only the younger ones, and newer ones...the old hands just take it easy, they know it can't be done. Once upon a time it could be and I had two jail breaks..but I am older and wiser now! Very Happy
