|
ok so i'm getting ready to make my own rack... well not really i decided to get one of those storage organizer as a started thats all plastic and already has the tubs. hopefully everyone understands wut i'm talking about. well anywayz the problem i can't seem to solve in my mind is first, flexwatt+foil+back of rack. that i got but how do i stick it on to the back. like the best way witout melting and so on. and seeing how i never paid any attention in school haha, how hot does the temp usually have to be before melting anything?? this is going to be a small one, probably 2-3drawers until i can make more space in my room.

I would post pics of that set-up and ask some people about using those because i've heard bad things about those they have something that the snakes can get caught on....

Yeah unfortunetly we are. These have created problems for people who try to use them. I can't say for sure what exactly the problem is I will let someone else answer that but I do know they don't work real well though. I thought about using one as well but you have to remember you get what you pay for. If it were that easy everyone would be using these and they wouldn't be selling racks for $200 or $300. Plus I don't think there is anyway to heat these because you can't tape the flex-watt to the back of the tub because obviously you have to pull the tub out to get the snakes. I just don't see anyway of heating these where it would be plausible. I wouldn't buy one until you did some pretty extensive research because I know there is a reason no one uses them just can't remember why.....

I used melamine wood cost about $38 for 4x8 sheet. I used peg board on the back I think it was either 3/16th or 1/4inch. It was easy to make but I have a lot of wood working tools because i used to do it for a living but they can be made with a small assortment of tools. This is the one I built. Cost me with the flex-watt about $80 total and 3 or 4 hours.

Check out this web-site also a little more expensive but there great racks also. Just click on the one you like and it will explain how to build it.

I have no idea right now in the particular rack that I built which i'm assuming is the one your reffering too i'm using 4 out of the 5 shelves I use the shelf on the bottom for feeding and storage. Each shelf has one piece of 11in flex-watt and there all wired together into one plug and then plugged into the t-stat. I use the repti-temp500r on that rack and love it I used to hate it and now it's perfect for some reason. Pretty much any t-stat you purchase will work on this type of setup not all but most. The repti-temp has a fairly small wattage compared to some of your more expensive proportional t-stats though. Hope this helped....
