So I decided the other day to build my own rack something I said I wasn't going to do since I was only going to own the 2 snakes I have now this is addicting i don't care what anyone says.. I decided to go with melamine wood a 4x8 sheet the dimensions are 24" W x 17" D x 36" H I was able to do this with just the 4x8 sheet. I used a piece of peg-board on the back it is a 5 slot that can hold either 5 32quart tubs or 10 of the 15qt tubs I wanted something that would hold hatchlings and when they got older it would hold the larger tubs so I wouldn't have to purchase anymore racks or build them. I haven't got pics yet I still need to buy the tubs before I cut the grooves for the shelves. This sheet of melamine cost about $40 and I had the peg-board in the basement. This was very simple to make and only took about two hours to cut all the pieces all thats left is to cut the grooves for the shelves and glue the whole thing together should be done thursday and I will post pics. I am going to use 11'' flexwatt for the heat and a Helix t-stat. The whole process will be under $200 with t-stat and all......

If you want more details I can give them to you I do a lot of wood working so I have a very extensive variety of wood working tools that I used but there are other ways to build one and make it sturdy with less tools.

Don't feel bad Deb the first one I made didn't hold up very well either I actually built another one this week and I perfected it a little more and it works perfect and is very sturdy. The thing with melimine is it's junk to work with it splits and cracks and chips. It's extremley tuff to work with but once it's done and done right it's really pretty strong stuff.
