I bought my first bag today and I gotta tell ya, that stuff is strange Shocked

First, there was "Cypress Mulch" and then there was "Cypress Mulch, Blended Mix". I bought the straight stuff, being the purist I am, but what is "blended", just out of curiosity?
Second, I changed over the tanks and set everything up. So, do I leave the LOGS in there Question Question

I put the mulch in the tanks, and my kids just don't seem to like it. Lola spent the night trying to climb out of the tank, didn't go back to her hide til this morning, and Bella hasn't left the top of her hide all night. She won't even put her tail down, just has it wrapped up in the top of her hide. Is this normal guys????

Must have been the "new" feel. They settled down, in fact, Lola buried herself later this morning after my last post. Sure is strange stuff tho'.

I have no idea what is in blended, but from the word, I would think a mixture of other mulch and not cypress alone. Did the list of ingredients list what was in there?..Logs? You can have whatever you want in the tank, as long as it's not Cedar or a Rat. Laughing

You mean that they are acting like cats around water? Laughing Laughing Laughing After you put down the Cypress, did you water it a bit to bring down the dust level? I wouldn't worry too much about it...as you say..they are getting used to it now. Laughing Laughing

Yea, that's it, cats around water Laughing No, didn't water it down, it was pretty wet already.

By logs, I meant in the mulch. You should have seen what was in this stuff. BIG pieces of wood Exclamation Exclamation , like 6 inches long x 1.5 inches diameter. Anything from logs to chunks. And spikes and slivers. I'm really tempted to take it all out and go back to the bark or something else. Really

No ingredients list on either package. Confused

Oh, did you go to the garden section of a store. I think that's a different kind of Cypress than in PetCo. You can break it up...or if it's too much trouble..after you run out of it,..try the Cypress in the petstore. Cool I have started using ASPEN from Petco now myself. The snakes love to tunnel under it.

See....getting your snake's environment correct is an adventure...a series of adventures really. If you like what you were using, and it was not Cedar, you did not have to change it. if it was working for you, you did not have to change it. We give ideas and advice..not Divine Orders. Razz

BTW: Ron, Great new Emoticons!! Knockem dead! Mad

Yes, I went to Home Depot and got it. My pet store only carries Repti-bark. I knew there had to be something different about it from the pics I saw. I kept telling myself; "self...this just doesn't look right." I just thought it would be a good thing to do for the balls since it was highly recommended. I'll probably go back to the aspen. That seemed to be the best of the 3 I've tried (for me, anyway).

Ron: yea, the icons are great! I'm having fun Twisted Evil Cool
