Last Sunday, I went to the pet store and fell in love with a baby ball. By Wednesday, my boyfriend had the other one that was in the aquarium at the pet store. They're already eating and have adjusted better than we had planned. We have them housed together (no need to quarantine since they were together at the pet store) and had them vet checked last Friday. We love these guys!

Beautiful snakes, good to hear that there are some pet stores still selling good quality products.

hard to tell from the photos but looks like they could use a humid retreat box/container. also i'd advise to house them seperately for many reasons. heres rons blog on that subject. http://rcreptiles.com/blog/index.php/2007/06/

make sure to have a good digital thermometer-hygrometer to measure temp/humidity.

but most importantly, welcome to the forums!!!!! you will find lots of helpful advice and make some nice new friends here. thanks for posting pics, we love pics! enjoy your stay!!

First of all WELCOME! Very Happy

Snakz is absolutely correct! I was looking at the wrinkled one and he/she? appeared to either about to slough his/her? skin or he/she? is very dehydrated.

One of the reasons for separate housing (although we want to believe that they love each other and wanna cuddle Laughing) is that the female is entirely too young to be breeding but this will NOT deter the male, he will still breed (they mature earlier)) and you may lose your female from the complications that result.

Please make use of the boards, they are here for the education of BP owners, and don't hesitate to ask questions!

you guys are absolutely right. We took them to the vet because we were concerned by the female's appearance. She was put on antibiotic injections and we put her in a very humid environment. She's shedding nicely now and her strength is vastly improving. I noticed she looked ill and could not stand the thought of leaving her there in the pet store to die. I'm so glad I did get her, she is absolutely beautiful and so friendly. She has since eaten, and her energy level is improving. She seems to really love being in warm, moist towels and lounging in her water bowl.

I wish you lots of luck, I know how you feel you want to save the ones that dont look good, but I did that and he died on me. I wish you a lot of luck.

Hello! Gratz on your new BPs.

If your snakes are soaking, maybe because they are dehydrated, but check for mites. Keep your eyes open. I purchased mine at the pet store, a week later he was soaking when I woke up in the morning. Then one day I started finding black dots in the water bowl, and sure enough, he had mites.

Here's a picture of one that fed nicely and decided to take a walk.
