Beautiful critters. And they're not camera shy at all, that last one's like, "Hellooooooooo!"

Use full spectrum fluorescent lighting, from more than once source, and no normal yellow bulbs. Or indirect sunlight is also good...slightly overcast day or sunny day in the shade. If you are shooting pics in the sun, make sure your camera lens is shaded too. Outdoors may be difficult in Wisconsin this time of year, so I'd go with the full spectrum bulbs. Then set the camera in macro mode. If it's cheap like mine it won't want to focus, so back up a bit, zoom in, and try again. Always focus on the eyes before moving the camera to frame the shot.
Some chondro people I've met take their snake photography very seriously, and they've been teaching me some cool stuff. You should see some of the pics they've taken with the nice cameras. Wish I had one.

Or you can always play with the Kelvin temperature setting, if your camera has one, to get good results. I use that on my Nikon all the time.
