Well when I was in the rat "love shack" last night feeding and watering and saw that one of the Does is getting huge. So Im thinking she preggars. Now if the other ones would get that way LOL. Laughing Laughing

One thing that helps is keeping the environment cool. The cooler it is, the more they will cuddle! Laughing I keep mine in the basement, they breed all the time. It's a bit colder down there than I would like, and when I work down there, I usually turn on the heat, but no one is getting sick and no one is dying, and everyone is either dropped a litter or pregnant. I am gonna take pics one day. Embarassed

How is this container cage working? I need to upgrade from my 10gallon, and petco is way overpriced for a 20gallon + lid.

Big Apple has some nice sized large rodent cages. I started out with this:

The smalls and mediums are not big enough for the size that rats grow. After my colony was established I commissioned a friend to build me two automatic watering rat rack systems.

Someone else is using a tupperware container, hopefully the other guys will chime in and let us know their solutions. Smile

I got 1 male and 2 females in a 10gallon, they seem ok, the babies don't get big enough to take up space. However, I want to upgrade to something bigger and add 2 more females, I will be getting a few more snakes in April i think. Also that one rat i have with the tumor...

That Big apple cage is basically the size of a 10gallon though isn't it?

Maybe; I have never checked. I like the "Apples" because they are open air more so than the tanks. The aquariums hold smells.

If they aren't big enough for you, perhaps it may be best to skip the aquarium stage and simply start building your own?

Yea I think I will do the "concrete tub" method but I only need one colony (3-4females) to feed my snakes...
