I heard that Phoenix worms may have as much calcium as crickets, so maybe I won't have to use crickets at all, (still researching) because they can also chew off the toes of the gecko. Shocked

Research and questions have lead me to believe that the best way to prevent this chewing (same as with rats and mice) is to gut load them before feeding and put a piece of potato or something in the tank with the crickets when you feed them to your pet.

That too. Smile

I put in a pinky for my Gecko and she didn't take it (her name is Dutchess), so I put it in with the mealworms...let's just say, I wouldn't want to be dumped into a pit full of these carnivores! Shocked

p.s. I didn't give the pinky to Samwise, the tortoise, because he had already had one...he LOVES them. (I only feed them to him about once a month).

I buy crickets in bulk for our beardies and I always keep the crickets supplied with potato, and or carrot, and bug-grub.

Well nourished crickets mean good nutrition for your pet.
