As you (the original posters) know...I am not a "DIY" er. However, I have managed to put together this/
This is my daughter giving me a break and putting the heat tape on for me.
Plans can be found at: http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/rack.shtml

any product incased in any heat can burn or start a fire ( mostly). if there are any firefighters on here they can inform you better. most state that nothing should be placed with in ( amount) of inches or feet so that it would not be a fire hazzard.

Ok, I am almost done.
For the LIFE of me, I can't figure out how to wire all these strips to come into the one in the middle so that I only need ONE plug to heat all the strips... I have tried many ways and none of them work..does anyone know how to do this?? SAVE ME!!

Ok Deb,
This is what you need to do. Hook all the left leads together and then hook all the right leads together. What you have pictured is flexwatt wired in series when it needs to be wired in parallel. You have split your voltage in half. about 55 volts going to the ones right of the middle one and 55 volts going to the ones left of the middle one. Hope this helps.

names kyle junior ff at cvfd.. you dont want to put the cases over the radiators b/c not only will it ignite but if the paint is old and soaked in your looking at fumes that may ignite and boom youll have no house.. if you insist putting cases over radiators the safest way to go is to buy pre-made cases for them

DARN!!
This part never "lit up" to let me know I had responses!! So I missed this..but Thanks guys!!
Smerf..I tried and tried...anyway the rack is no more...I tried moving it and rack fall down and go BOOM! It really was something to see how all the shelves just collapsed..and so ends my short career as a DIYer.
Thanks Kyle for the information. I won't be building anything again...and I found some beautiful radiator covers that are made just for this purpose.

No more Deb DIY projects?
Your rat rack looked like a DIY...did you not build that?
BTW, what substrate are you using in the rat rack tubs?
