I went to the petshop yesterday and got a dozen mice and after the guy put them in the box for me he told me that 2 of the mice are pregnant and ready to give birth anyday now. Told me I shouldnt feed them out and let them have their litters and then as the babies got bigger I would have more to feed my snakes, or if I didnt want to mess with them he would by the pinkies from me to resell. I was like cool what ever works is fine with me. Well after seperating the 2 mice I discovered a third one that looks pregnant also. So O removed her too. My question is do I need to put each mouse in its own tank for giving birth in? I've heard so much about cannalibism(spelling?) I dont want to lose the litters if at all possible. Any idea on how I can help prevent it?

Mice? I would separate them.
Cannibalism  is such a commonality for them. Read all of the posts on mice and rats while there are not so many then you will know what we know. As the posts grow, information will not be so easy to find, so I would read now if I were you.

I went down to the dollar store today and found some shoebox type plastic tubs with lid for a buck, and put each mom to be in her own tub. put some food and water in for them punched some holes in the lids for fresh air asn they each have a mouse condo LOL
Now if they would just give birth soon.

I have great success with my rats and gerbils, but NONE Of my mice have gotten preggers. I am reduced to using them as flavoring (for Delores). They also don't live very long.
Good luck...you just starting out..as you get more you may need different cages to make life easier. I got some from Big Apple Herps. They are great!

Well its been awhile since I posted about my micebeing preggars. Well they still havent dropped any litters and have gotten to the point of not looking pregant anymore. I went through thier tubs and found no signs of babies. So being that I didnt find any babies or evidence to show they was born, they have been dispatched out as supper. I'm not overly concerned about having mice to breed, but if I get mice that are supposed to be preggars, I'll give them time to give birth, then if no babies supper they become. LOL
Thats why I got them to begin with, so no since in giving a parden after the gestation period has come and gone.

I hate mice, mine stil haven't bred anything, but the Rats have increased and the gerbils went from 2 to 9.

Ive decided that for 99 cents a mouse its really not worth the hassle. Now when my babies get bigger and they are all on rats, I can see breeding rats later on. Mice, nope, no way, aint gonna happen, not in this life time LOL

99 cent a mouse? Lucky! It's a 1.99 here in Baltimore.
