101 degrees or more here tomorrow, any suggestions on keeping enclosures cool?
Will 101 or 102 temps be an issue? Never had it get this hot keeping snakes, it rarely gets this hot here.
My temps read 93 cool end, 97 on the hot end and it's about 97 degrees here now, so do I need to do anything tomorrow if/when it hits 102?

Ha ha! Wow, that is unusual! Up here in Vancouver, BC it's been a scorcher too... but I don't think it got THAT bad. Maybe just in my car...
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions...

Don't you have a thermostat? What are you monitoring the heat with?

Yes deb, thermostats don't keep the temps down when the air is 102. All my heat devises are off because of the heat
It is 97 here, hence the tanks/enclosures are 97, ahhhh, lol.

LOL to the beer, not a drinker, but all good
No A/C ugh, water bowl? hehe
Just worried about tomorrow more than today, 97 isn't huge, 102 is getting too hot for any living creature, haha

In the wild doesn't it easily reach over 100? I'm sure he will be fine

Not sure, I'm assuming in their holes it's not so hot, but again, not sure...

I'm sure he will be fine | In the wild, they aren't restricted to small enclosures; and they spend the days underground, not lounging in the sun. A few days in the high 90s can have a detrimental effect, a few hours at temps >100 (sorry I can't give specific times & temps) can cause neurological damage or death.
I don't know how many snakes you have, but a styrofoam cooler and a couple of good icepacks will do the trick. Find yourself a Super WalMart (or whatever they have in Vancouver) & head for the camping section. (I'd go with the the bigger blue icepacks $6-7/each). In and out in 10 minutes. Pop the ice packs in the freezer when you get home so they're ready for morning. You might want to take a couple of extra minutes to grab a window fan if you don't have one - it would help if you can get the room temp down overnight, and just opening a couple of windows probably won't do it. Put the snake(s) in an old pillowcase, pop them in the cooler. Wrap the icepack(s) in paper and put them in (placement will depend on the size cooler, the number of snakes, etc). You can use crumbled up newspaper to fill up some of the airspace and prevent the snake from touching the icepack.
If you can't get a cooler & some icepacks, about all you can do is fill the water bowl with cool water (I'd probably consider dampening the substrate as well - just don't pour cold water on the snake).
If the snake starts to act funny, you'll need to cool him down. It turns into a tough mix of wanting and needing to do it quickly, but needing to be careful not to let it happen TOO quickly. Start by lightly spraying him (them) with water. In the case of an overheated snake - mid 80s will feel quite cool, so start there. After a few minutes of spraying, move the snake into a tub with a small amount of water (same temp). Gradually add some slightly cooler water until there is enough to cover halfway up the snake - DO NOT LEAVE THE SNAKE UNSUPERVISED...if there is any neurological impairment, even temporary, it could drown in a small amount of water. Let him soak for a while, and as the water warms up, you can dump and replace some. If the snake seems back to normal, you can try cooling it down a little more if you want.
Of course, at some point, you are going to have to address the room temps...if it's that hot, he's just going to warm back up again (if he was overheated, you'll want to avoid that). If you can't cool the room, you're back to getting a cooler and some icepacks.
Good luck.

Thank you, I will have to go tonight, get a couple coolers, luckily only 4 snakes, 1 being 2000 grams and 4 foot, 2 are 800 grams and 2 feet or so, and one is 200 gram early 08 baby.
Boy, I wish I had a/c
As it is going to be over 100 tomorrow, and it was 97 for a long time today, snakes seem ok, but lesson learned, I'm getting an a/c unit soon as I can.
It rarely gets 100 here, so I never really gave it much thought...

Woot, yep, right across the river from Portland Oregon, I see a visit in the future
And Harold, ty, snakes did fine, hopefully I'll be better prepared with an a/c unit next hot spell.
Temps "only" hit 100 and it only got to 95 inside, so we survived.
