I've noticed over the last day or two that my BP's body seems be looking dull (but head is not dull yet). I haven't noticed any cloudiness of his eyes, but I'm guessing he's going to be shedding in the near future.

At what point should I stop handling him daily and how soon can I expect him to shed?

i believe the shedding process can take up to a few weeks. it will start with a pinkish belly, to dull skin, to blue eyes, back to looking almost normal again and then you can expect a shed within 1-3 days?

every snake is different so it depends on how tolerant yours is. i try not to handle mine while they are in "blue" but will handle them before and after as long as they are not asleep.

my bp is hard to tell when he's asleep, but my corn on the other hand she flat out looks likes she's passed out hard and sleeping good so i know when not to mess with her.

Thanks for the progression of the shed cycle. That will help a lot!

Usually I pet my BP in his tank and can tell by how he responds if he's "in the mood" to be handled. If he opens up and seems curious I take him out, if he wiggles further under the log and seems like he's bothered by the fact that I just woke him up, I try again later. lol Guess I'll keep using that as a guide until I see him in blue.

My corn is very different too. He's active most of the time and I always take him out when he's active. If he's passed out in front of the tank I just wait until he's up and about.

Some people say you should handle them even if they shy away... teach them that you're the boss and all that. Very Happy I'm not actually sure if they learn that way....
