so i came home today from house hunting and found my girl in a nice coil...i knew she had laid eggs so i got everything together. Well it wasnt what i was hoping for as i could feel six eggs in her about a week ago. total was 3 eggs ( 1 is a boob egg) and 3 slugs :( . the veins dont seem as strong as the ones that were in clutch #1, they are there but not huge. but here we go take a look.

You've successfully managed to create an environment conductive to breeding, pair at the right time, feel the eggs and you were right about the count!

We were talking about slugs some time ago and I believe you put forth the theory that they may be caused by the female not having enough sperm retained to fertilize them. Knowing that you were putting the male and female together as much as possible (3 day intervals), what do you contribute the slugs to?

Was the male not doing his job every chance he got? Or should we look into more theories as to what causes slugs?

Deb - dont really know what to think about the slugs. the dad is the same as the one that gave me 7 eggs ( 6 good ) from the female 47 days ago...

im thinking as this was her first time breeding it might be somewhat of a reason. shes 1500 grams but who knows. im hoping these hatch as they veins i saw inside them wernt very strong.

this clutch started with 3 good eggs of which one was a boob egg and 3 slugs....

well the first two are out and im just waiting on the last one ( who hasnt even poked his head out yet) and it happens to be the boob egg.
