First off I'd like to thank a_green for his advice and help along with the other's that posted. I tried to get everything recommended but I spent alot yesterday (getting the wrong stuff) so my funds were limited today so I did what I could with them. Last night I posted a topic were it was brought to my attention I did everything wrong and then I read this

http://rcreptiles.com/blog/index.php/2007/04/03/ball_python_education_is_important

and felt even worse. So 1st thing I did when I woke up was go to two different pet stores. Here is how I have it set up now.

That is the hot side of the tank. No heating rock! Yey. I got a heating pad underneath and a red heat light sitting onto of the cage. He has that cave looking piece for him to hid into along with that tree which he seems to enjoy curling up inside. In the back on the glass is a temp. reading, I didn't have enough for a digital one right now so I got this, but will hopefully get a digital one soon. Right now it is reading around 85 F. (after only 1/2 hour of setup)

This is the cool side of the tank. It has a good size water dish for it to soak on and another cave for him to hide in. The water fall I kept in, the wire has a nice and think shell around it and how the tank is made there is no room for escape.(Lid picture below) I also see him climbing on this often. The temp reads around 78-80 F on the cool side.(My room is about that right now just put the A/C on)

This is a temp control I bought for the heating pad to lower it just in case it end's up getting to hot but I have it on high right now and the temp. is staying good. I want to get a good thermostat soon. I think this should do for now until I get one. I also put rubber bumpers under the cage so that air could flow underneath the tank.

That is the top of the cage. The lid snaps back and locks into place so that the lid can not be lifted or moved. Which is much better then what I had.

That is about it. Any suggestion's or comments please feel free to leave. Here are some pictures of him. I'm not sure about his age but if I'm correct for his size he is still pretty young.

Oh Humidity is around 48 or so. I bought a mist bottle to spray once or twice a day. I'm Not sure if I missed it or read right by it but if someone could tell me what the humidity should be around I would appreciate it.

Good Job Sk8ter! All u need now is a good thermometer/hygrometer with a probe. U might want the trunk cave looking thing facing away from light. I know its fun to watch them all the time but they like their privacy . I really don't spend money on hides I just use plastic containers with an opening big enough for my bp to fit in.
He looks really nice! Smile

You can buy these at wal-mart or home depot. There about $15.00

You can buy hides about anywhere as far as a pet store goes. Shoe boxes or plastic containers as was mentioned above work just as well and are cheaper[/img]

Oh ok cool. So that just sticks to the front of the cage. Were about do you put the probe? Towards the bottom of the cage, middle, or top? Would I want two? One for each side of the tank? Hot and cool side?

It goes inside the tank place the actual unit on the cool side, and run the probe to the hot side. The probe goes underneathe the substrate directly over the heat source. I tape mine down some will disagree. I've been taping the probes down for a long time and have never once even remotely had a problem up to you though. I use packing tape and cover the whole probe to keep it from moving just make sure the tape is pressed all the way down.

The unit itself will measure the cool side the probe will measure the hot side and it reads humidity as well. All three in one thats why so many people use these....

Late Welcome! Smile

Very nice looking boy! He is about the same size as my baby boy and Ixtlil is only around 8 weeks old, so I would guess yours is pretty young too.

I got my digital therm/hygo at Walmart for about 12$ too.
