Just curious to see how many people take their snakes outside on warm days. For those that do, do you just stay outside your house with it or do you take it with you wherever you go? How do people usually react when they see you with your ball python?
There's a customer that bought a Spider from us as a pet a few years back and she takes her everywhere she goes (grocery stores included).

I do when it's warm out, but I live in an apartment complex which just so happens to be where I work as well. I don't want to many people to know that I have snakes in there lol. A lot of people are okay with it, but there are quite a few who aren't.
I have a pic of one of my snakes for a screen saver at work and theres a lady who comes in pretty often and every time she sees that pic she screams and yells and runs out of my office. So imagine what would happen if she saw a real one.
I do take mine out on the patio though and sit there with them. I don't let them go in the grass or anything though to paranoid about insects and what not...

[cough]attention*****[/cough]
I've done a lot of presentations....some where there would be a reasonable expectation of encountering reptiles, some not. In places where they weren't totally unexpected, there would still be people that would abruptly stop and make a hasty detour. The reactions in other situations was often quite extreme (despite the quite obvious signs advertising/warning that there was a reptile exhibition). Of course, the response to lizards, and even large spiders, was rarely as intense as that to snakes.
I am of the opinion that if a snake keeper wants to take his animals outside on his/her property, it shouldn't be a big deal. Wandering around with them in public places is a different story, though. Even if we disregard the mental well being of those that don't share our appreciation, there are other considerations: constant temperature changes, exhaust fumes, grabby kids, etc.
I suspect that the initial reaction of some will be along the lines that they have a right to take their pet with them; and they may, or may not, be correct, depending on where they live...the question is, how long will they have that right if they exercise it indiscriminately. (Yes, in some places laws have been passed simply because a person got scared - it sucks, and it isn't fair...but it's true)
I do occasionally take some of my snakes outside - for pictures - and I try to be as unobtrusive as possible...to the extent that I don't even use what I consider the best part of my yard. My neighbors have demonstrated that they are not exactly of the "live and let live" mentality, and it just isn't worth the aggravation to me. (nor do I want the neighborhood kids getting any dumb*** ideas - though I think they are all scared enough of my dogs that that shouldn't be an issue)

Reminds me of when I was at the airlines shipping snakes overseas and the lady at the counter (staff mind you) SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS when she looked at my account on the computer and noticed that the contents of the box were "LIVE HARMLESS SNAKES".

Mine go out in the grass on occasion, my large girl loves to cruise out in the yard. Baths and inspections, always follow though

It can be quite an eye opening experience...especially to those that think small tubs are great because BPs (or whatever snake) don't move all that much anyway. Some will even get kinda feisty after a little bit of time in the sun

I would like to take her out more often, but I am not sure how the others in my apartment building would respond. We are not to have pets in the building, BUT we are allowed aquarium kept pets. So, I am walking that thin line due to a technicality LOL. I just don't want to push it. I take her out but she is hidden and then I go somewhere else like the pet store or over to a friend's house.

I took mine outside today, just to sit with me on the porch. He never left my hand as he is 2 months old a bit of spare change and since that topic about ants, I'm paranoid. I wouldn't take him everywhere, just in consideration of people who are afraid of them and might cause me trouble thinking that its somehow venomous.

I Take My Snakes Out When Ever I can Let Them Get Some Sun And let Them Cruise Around The Yard.
I Do Take My Balls Out Into Public But Only When Im On My Way To The Vet or Petshop Or Something Like That, Most of The Time Peoples Reaction Is Curiosity And Some Do Just Turn Around And Walk Away.
Just Wanted To Say That Im Not A Attention ***** Because I Like To Take My Balls In Public Sometimes, Its Just Like Walking The Dog If You Ask Me.

I have a big family of hawks that live above my house, and an owl so if I ever brought my snakes outside i would be really scared. My friends Pug almost got taken by a big owl when it was a puppy.

Sorry To Burst Your Bubble But No My Vet Doesn't Ask Me To Box or Bag My Snake Unless I Take More Than One. They Only Ask To Box Or Bag A Snake When Its over The 8Ft Mark.
Well I Didn't Know There Was A Tag Team Of Insults Here I Think You Guys Need To Act Your Age. PM Me If You Need To Talk To Me.
