Just wondering if anyone is following the recent declines in honey bee, bat and butterfly populations. I'd be very curious to know if anyone is following these topics and their thoughts on this phenomenon.
Thanks

I have a general awareness of the situation but not enough to speak intelligently about it. I understand it's a big deal. Is it true that it's a disease that's wiping out the honeybees?
Amphibians are facing a major crisis right now as well due to the spread of disease.

From what my sources tell me, they're still unsure what's going on. The bat population is declining and they're not sure if it's viral or other related. Bats keep the insects at bay and if the bat population declines, insect populations will increase. This increase will potentially lead to more and more crop destruction since the shift of balance has been altered.
I'll let you know if I hear of any new developments but it's pretty scary stuff yet you don't hear anything about this on the media.
On a side note. I installed a bat house on a large tree near our swimming pool at my previous property to help control mosquito's. I just hope we figure out what the heck is going on because a dwindling bat population is not good.
