What is wrong with this little bugger? I try and do the right thing and keep his $2.50 butt alive for a few days instead of just throwing his butt out but no... he wants to take every SINGLE piece of bedding and food and put it into his water dish, then proceed to PEE and DEFACATE all over the container! then he just sits there covered in pee and water shivering waiting to die. i just don't get it... is this some kind of mouse suicide ritual? does he know whats coming or what. from now on I just guess I should check if BOTH my males are spontaniously in shed before i go buy a mouse. sheesh!

I've had them do that, but I dont put water in there cage with them when I am not in the room I put the water bottle in the cage with thme to drink and then take it away, unless its the breding pair they get a bottle they cant tip over but it dont stop them from defecating on it.

Just use a water sipper but yeah some mice are morons mine acutally sit there and act dead.... then when I try to take one out they go nuts aghhhh

GET SOME FT!!! i'm not even going to mention the incident that happened when i had a live rat the other day to feed to titan.....lets just say after that i'm going to get FT ASAP.

lol ok being the klutz i am the first time i fed him a live it was running around the tank and titan wouldn't get near it, so i had to grab the rat by the tail with tongs and it just swung side to side and wham titan took it out. BUT the second and last time, i fed him a live lets say this one rat was a lot more lively, so again i put it in tank it ran around so AGAIN i did the same thing wit the tongs, picked up by the tail BUT it went crazy!!! like i really mean crazy, i guess this one sensed danger unlike the las one, so it spun around around like a helicopter keep in mind i'm still holding it wit the tongs by the tail. as titan started peeking out his hide, the unthinkable happens. REMEMBER that this never cross my mind at all! but since the rat was going all crazy and i guess it put to much pressure on its tail, that about 1in of tail skin thingy came off and the rat FLEW to the side of the tank  . so its tail still attached but on the tongs was bout 1in of tail flesh.....and you can see the cartilege or wuteva a tail is made of.....i was SHOCKED because like i said that never ever crossed my mind for some reason. but yes titan actually went for it this time without me holding it, guess he grew some balls  but never again is he getting live...oh it also didn't help that my friend whose a girl saw that and was like AHHHHHHHHH, so yes unless anyone want to make the same nasty mistake i did don't hold a crazy rat that is freaking out with tongs.

Yeah That Happens! I Tryed To Grab A Rat By The Tail And Smack It On The Wall But When I Swung Back I Felt That The Rat Wasnt There Anymore! Long Story Short I Ended Up With Rat Tail Skin In My Hand And A Screaming Rat Running In My Room!

Yeah, there are some stories I could tell about when I first started keeping rats. Now I know to grab them firmly by the base of the tail.
*ps...this only happened with rats that I hadn't raised myself..so far.
