What would be a proper way to quarantine a group of balls being purchased?
I have a friend buying numerous balls to be put into a 14 tub freedom like rack, and am concerned about his purchasing numerous snakes from different breeders, although most will come from one in particular.
What would be the protocol for quarantine a large group like this, and then again when a 2nd rack is put into place. Looking for a safe/proper way to do this...

What works for me is having a separate rack in a separate room in a different part of the house with its own cleaning chemicals etc right next to it and keep them separate for a minimum of 3 months ; 6 months is ideal! (A bathroom, or separate bedroom on another floor works well).
I then pre-treat the rack and substrate with Provent-a-Mite (PAM) 24 hours before they arrive. When they come I open the box outside and spray them down with Reptile Relief (RR) and check them over before bringing them in and putting them in their separate racks (if it's cold outside, I will have the opening box area on newspaper and have the newspaper and carpet sprayed with PAM before I bring the box in or open the box (I do not spray the box or snake with Pam!!) Since this is two separate sources..in order for me to pinpoint any illnesses, I would have two separate racks in two separate rooms and cleaning items for each. with no cross/contamination by opening each box separate and following the same procedure for each one (being careful to wash after handling one group...and change clothes!!) I change downstairs in the bathtub and spray the clothes with PAM) those that know me know I wear army fatigues whenever I am dealing with snakes because those pants/clothes are indistructable, as are nurse uniforms (pants and top).
I have two outfits for dealing with snakes and when working in the basement...some days, I will wear a sun dress to make it easier for me to jump in the shower.
Hope this helps.. Harald, Nick, Buck and Ron and others will chime in later perhaps.

Good info deb, thanks.
Most of them will come from the same breeder, but probably in different shipments. There is no racks as of now in his house, only a few pet snakes.
I'm mostly worried about getting some snakes from other breeders and integrating them all into a 14 tub rack. Once this rack is full, another will be added next to it.
