Hi all,
Just wanted to announce that the temp problem we've been having seems to be doing much better with the aspen substrate (as opposed to the reptibark, which seems to have prevented the temp from rising to an acceptable level?!?!).

We were in a bit of a panic yesterday, because it had been a week since we received him, and tried to feed him, with no luck. We read several threads on this forum, and felt a lot better. We tried again today, and he ate the mouse.

We appreciate that this forum is here, and we especially appreciate those who responded to our questions when we, as new pet owners, panicked over what must be simple concepts to most of you.

Just a few notes on our feeding experience... We moved him out of his tank, into a container for feeding. We put him in with the hide he likes most, on some newspaper. We put the container on top of a heating pad to keep him warm. We did the typical thaw deal, and put the mouse in the container with him. Last night, we were a bit too excited, and kept watching him, walking around the container, and no doubt were the reason he didn't eat. Tonight, we put him in his container, turned off the main room light (left a small lamp on in the corner that's always on in my son's room), and left the room and Ace to his meal. About a half-hour later, it was gone, and he was happy.

In an email conversation with Ron, he said this snake was being fed rat pups. I'm not sure what that equates to in mice terms, but I think what we fed him was too small. We fed him a fuzzie. It's smaller than what he pooped out, so it's obvious it was too small. We bought a container of six of these, so should we feed him two at a time till they're gone, or just buy larger ones and toss these? Should we feed him again in another few days, since this was a small one, or wait another week?

Sorry I snuck a question in there, but we really do appreciate all the help.

Thanks!
Frank

Are you saying you fed fuzzy *MICE*?? A rat pup is like the BIGGEST mouse!

Your BP needs to have a visible bulge after swallowing. If you are feeding too small, next time give him as many as he will take! Smile
