ok yea so i haven't had the money to get frozens yet so i had to get titan another live. but NOW i REALLY need to get frozens since the rat actually put up more of a fight then the last live. titan DID get the best of him without getting injured HOWEVER as saw where the rat's mouth was i was relived that titan was ok because the rat's mouth was like 2mm from titan's neck! but thankfully titan got him and this time i'm sure he'll be full for 2wks since it was a BIG small rat, and the mean time i hurry up n order my FT for him. here a pic of how him looks after downing that BIG small rat. like a plump sausage!
sorry couldn't get a better pic but he is HUGE if u saw him. i was actually worried that after he downed the whole thing he would explode (the python and the gator pic, i'm sure everyone seen that one by now). oh n ironically enough after he ate the power went out for almost 20hrs! cuz of the storm but luckily enough the temp stayed at 79F the whole time. granted to was to round and big to fit into his hide on the hot side. THATS how big he is and he can't even curl at all right now so he's liked jus laid all out.

In my opinion that may be a little too big. He's probably feeling like a king right now and won't have any bad effects, but it's more than a slight bulge. Better safe than sorry to avoid skin tearing.
Besides skin tearing, does anyone know of other effects of feeding too large prey? Can the snake's airway be cut off etc?

Long term the snake could become overweight, leading to fatty liver disease and breeding problems.

Just leave him alone.
As far as my comments on gaining too much weight, I wouldn't worry about it based on just one feeding. I was thinking about if you fed large as a trend.

Yeah he'll be fine. They know what they need as fas as moving and what not after eating. I would wait the normal two or three days. I usually wait two days or until they poop. You can tell when they are ready they'll come out and rome around instead of hiding.

Hey dragon,
I;m assuming that your BP is fine from feeding it something too big. I think i may have fed my BP a too big mouse as well.
Let me know how it went.
Thanks.

I have one that will come out and beg to be picked up right after feeding, lol, of course I'm assuming that leaving her be is the right thing no matter what she may want. I always give 24-36 hours before handling, just is painful to watch her beg to be held, hahah.

dragon2285, I'm looking back on this thread now and a different thought occurs to me. If you're concerned for the safety of your snake, why not just pre-kill the prey? Frozen/thawed isn't the only path to safety.
