|
I just built a rack and there is about a 1/16th of an inch in between the top of the tub and the shelf it self. My question is as I know a bp couldn't escape this but what about a small corn snake? From looking at the space it self it doesn't look big enough for one to escape but I may be wrong. This may be a dumb thread but just thought i'd see if anyone had any thought on this....

I dont think so but you should take the proper precautions anyways. You could just use a lid for the corsnake and use a sodering iron poke holes into the tub for ventilation.

Well the only problem with that is there's only a 1/16th of an inch clearance a lid wouldn't fit in that small of a space.

I attempted to add those little pads that you place on the bottom of chairs and things that stick on but even they were to thick for the space.

if the space is truly 1/16th then no even a baby corn would not be able to escape. if you are guessing and its really 1/4" - 1/2" then i would be worried. they can flatten themselves out like most snakes but the one thing that they cant flatten out but so much is their head.
the tub once it slides all the way back it isnt even with the shelf is it, im assuming the rack itself is deeper and the tub slides back up inside a little ways. as long as that gap is no greater than 1/16th on all areas then i would say your fine.

Okay i'm sure it's a 1/16th of an inch because the pic you see there is the first rack I built which turned out okay but not great. The second one I built I tightned the shelves up so i'm really sure that is all the space that is there. I was pretty sure they couldn't escape that but just wanted some reassurance...Thanks again

To answer your question yes the tub sit's back in the rack itself about an inch maybe an inch and a half. There's just the small gap from the top of the tub and the shelf above it (1/16th)
