No good deed goes unpunished, eh?

I bought two mice today for my Lister and brought in my own "Critter Carrier" to pick them up with. One incident of mice loose in my car from a loose Petco box was one too many! I'm absurdly afraid of the things.

Apparently, the lady putting then in the container (Carrier that was then put in a box) decided I seemed like a nice enough girl she'd throw in two extra mice! Surprised

I have no idea how to keep these guys for a week and despite trying to get my friends who own mice to "foster home" them for a few days, nobody seems to want to knowing where they'll end up (snake bait). I've looked online for tips, but those are for pets you want to live long, I'm just curious what the minimalist approach would be to keep them healthy enough for a week.

They nearly killed each other fighting last night, so now the two of them are in separate fish tanks with some bedding, a little hide and some carrots and sunflower seeds. I'm gonna put a little bowl of water in too.

Is that good for now? My roommate wants to kill me, he thinks I made this up to get some new pets!

A water bowl may not cut it. Mice will defecate in a water bowl right quick, assumin' they don't knock it over outright. They'll also be puttin' food an' substrate in it too, then after all that hard work go wanderin' 'round lookin' for a drink o' water. At least that's the way it goes down at Uncle Flo's place. A water bowl may get 'em by for a few days, but a week? You'll have some thirsty critters on your hands if they make it, an' that's no way to treat a thing in its final days.

Flo' suggests you go ahead an' pick up some water bottles from the pet store, 'cause just when you think you'll never have mice again, you'll find yourself holdin' just like you are now, an' then you'll be glad you listened to Uncle Flo's advice.

Now Aunt Flo' might try an' tell you your uncle's a cheapskate, but don' listen to any o' her nonsense: it's ok to go ahead an' get the cheap bottles.
