Ok yea I broke the cardinal rule, wait a week before feeding!
But they were both wondering around the tank as if they were tring to hunt.
Sure enough the female gobbled the medium mouse I got at Petland today and had it wrapped eaten swallowed and all in under 3 minutes (from start to finish).
The male took a little bit longer as he has never been held at all since we got him and was confused when we put him the the large cardboard box to feed, but sure enough bite, wrap swallow and back to buisness. The female only partially wrapped using half her body but the male made a complete ball around the mouse and though much smaller it seemed he had the better grip.
I've added some pictures below:
Male Feeding Pic Above
Female Feeding Pic Above
I let them simmer a bit after the feeding and put them back in the tank. I've also caught the male tring to what looked like drink or maybe submerge in the water was pretty cool, heh. Anyway there it is first feeding!

Good to hear man. Having a healthy eater is a big relief. Baby balls eating after a few days in a new home means they're not terribly stressed and the overall health is probably good.
When they poop, you can take fecal samples to your vet to make sure the Petland mice weren't housing any internal parasites. They're clean when they leave Ron, but you never know about your food source or if they picked something up during their travels. Better safe than sorry.

I was shocked reading the post title...I mean...I am so glad they ate for you...But wasn't prepared that you fed them...My fella will no doubt surely wish he would have been shipped to your home. For he arrives on Tuesday...And they say to wait a week...So I'm thinking he's going to be almost two weeks before he is fed...Poor guy...But since I'm doing f/t I really think it's important to do this...So he'll be hungry as well...I'm hoping...
Congrats on having a great eating pair there...

I fed 4 this week just as soon as they came in, they all ate within seconds. Maybe because the people said that it had been 2 weeks already
Waiting to feed till it's settled in is good, but not at the expense of throwing them off feed.
Snakes will either eat or not, if they show no interest, then they get 15 minutes to show it, or they wait till next feed day. This way a hungry snake that isn't stressed too badly, will eat and then rest for the following week before any handling.
After feeding 66 snakes this week, only 1 didn't eat, and most ate multiple rats, a good week
Congrats on their eating

Heh thanks guys, after the feeding they suprisingly just kept wondering around the tank and going under the hides randomly, maybe it wasn't hunger but I'm sure glade they ate. At least now it should be easier, I did have the mice in a Tupperware encloser with holes in it and left it over the tank 2 hours prior to the feeding so I'm sure that helped as they can smell prey really well. Now if only my rack would ship, still waiting for it to be finished.

Do you have a thermostat on your heat source? For it maybe hotter than what you think. I've heard others say that can cause them to be more active.
How's the humidity and everything in the cage? Everything going good? You have heat from above if I do recall...Rich told me when I ordered my cage from Reptile Basics. That when you heat from above like I have with the heat panel. That it sends them more heat as if the sun was heating the surface by radiant heat coming down. And so they sometimes do move around a bit more with the upper heat verses the underbelly heat. I also had one say that underbelly heat is great. Due to if you've ever seen a snake sunning himself of the road. This is the same heat the BP gets from the under tank heating system. So they prefer to just lay and absorb the belly heat.
I would think if your heat is set so it can't go hotter...And the humidity is right...then maybe they are out more due to the heat being from above. (For I'm thinking that's the heat source your using...If not disregard my comments )

Hehe, always being a worry bee :p
Who knows, the conditions may have been off, the snake could have been checking out its new home, or maybe they were hungry. They seem to be in good condition, he hasn't noted any odd behaviour.
And congrats on the double feeding

I know...Shame on me...I thought I read he didn't have a thermastat...But he may have gotten it by now. Or...I could have him confused with someone else...That's all...
New place...Very well could be checkin' out the place...My poor guy...When he arrives if he continues to check out the place...I'll most likely spazz and whip out the temp gun and start shooting all over the cage... And stress him out...
So it's alright for them to be active when placed in a new home...And not just hide...I need to keep chanting this...Or I'll drive my poor snake nuts with that temp gun I purchased...

Lol, yeah. I was worried at first too, like "whats going on?!"
Then after awhile I realized she is exploring everywhere, really sniffing around where the air comes into the cage to see if thats an escape route. I don't know if all snakes are this way, maybe some go straight to a hiding spot.

Rich from Reptile Basics stating that I'll mostly see my snake out more than those with under belly heat...Due to it's more like the heat they get from the sun...So say the log get's a tad warmer on the upper part of the hide. He could enjoy laying on it like the road I would think...Verses getting the heat from under the cage. Where the location of the heat under the cage would be like the log thus they are content staying in their hides...(My thinking of what Rich explained) But I see my drivin' myself nuts with the temp gun...

Hehe yeah, I was wondering the same thing actually. They looked so tiny in those boxes. Are they a standard large moving box or something? And that smily at the end makes me 'lol' for some reason >.<
