Hi Ron,
I want to buy one of your snakes and I'm curious about the parentage and designation.

You have 2 babies, 1 is called a Mojave and 1 is called a Normal. Both have a Mojave father and a Normal mother. Why is one a Mojave and one a Normal?

Thanks loads,
Debbie

Mojave's are co-doms. Half the clutch are normal, the other half Mojave. The super version of a Mojave x Mojave breeding produces a super Mojave or Leucistic (white snake w/ blue eyes). Mojave's are concerened morphs whereas the normals are not.

Hope this helps. Smile

Okay, I think I'm getting the genetics thing. But, I'm still dense here; how do you look at a snake and visually tell if it's a mojave or a normal?

Okay Ron, I just read over the "Ball Python Gods....." posts and I guess I need some flash cards. You know, the kind with a picture and words underneath saying "this is a ........ from a ......" I get the form, just not the picture.

Guess I better buy a book on breeding Embarassed

You can easily spot a co-dom morph if you look at a clutch of hatchlings. It's like apples and oranges, literally.

Sweetie, you not just whistling Dixie!! The pictures absolutely do NOT do it justice. I was never interested in them from the pictures I saw...but I am a risk taker....I also play the stock market!!! lol ain't made no money yet..still ignorant!! but anyway, when I purchased mine, I was like...oh MY...OH MY...they are just (imo) awesome...like pewter, silver.. a differnt kind of ball from the normal and more soft than the pastel. I was actually calling people off the street to see them. LOL I'm nuts..but what can I say?

I haven't seen one yet but I fugured that since when I try to take pictures of my art they come up...not the same it should apply to bps as well.

This for instance, looks much better in person. Especialy when I move that string out of the way...

He's listed as a Normal - Dad is a Mojave, Mom is a Normal

His sibling is listed as a Mojave; hence all my questions about Why?
