|
Hi All!! After a shed and a great big mousicle I was handling Sizzle today and I noticed about 5-6 little pin head or slightly smaller bumps under Sizzes skin..I think they are too small to be ticks, but they are there? They dont see uncomfortable. Any ideas? I would take pics but I don't think they would show. I value your educated knowledge ...Please help ..
One more before I go...Does probing by a knowlegable handler cause the snake unneccesary discomfort or stress?...Thanks

What colors are they?
A picture would help a lot...try and take one anyway!
If the handler knew what he was doing...I think your snake would be alright.

try and get a picture of it
you said after a mouse? was this directly after feeding?
if so you should not handle you ball for a MIN of 24 hours after feeding. i dont handle for at least 48 hours Min.
if this was right after a feeding and it goes away i have see this before with actual little rat parts poking ( meal wasnt to large but i could see little bumps and they went away quick)

Do they seem to be filled with liquid or are they solid?
Do they have a smell?
Maybe Ron can chime in. None of my bps have had bumps raised bumps on their scales but granted, I don't have all the bps in the world (I wish).

They seem like little firm bumps. like zits without puss filled centers or heads. They don't move.He has one on his back and inch behind his head and a couple down his side and along his back. about a millimeter(1/16" for the US) in diameter. They are not pushing his scales apart. I have read about worm type parasites but they are described as being bigger. He eats and is active when handled. I feel sooo bad for this python as I really think that his life till he met me was brutal due to husbandry and lack of feedeing.. Just another pet shop story!...I called the vet nearest to me to se if he has ever heard of these bumps. His office said he wouldn't give advice over the phone...nice eh?So I am going to have to travel 2 hrs and spend $100 + just to see him rather than spend a moment with me on the phone. It is great to see the health care system does not differ from Humans to Amimals...Medical pros are definately in it for the dough!!!and not so much the patient!! :(

Well strangely enough Sizzle went blue eyed on Saturday so the bumps might have something to do with Her shed...yes you read it right...Sizzle was probedFriday and turns out she's a lady!!! I am very happy about this!!! Does it seem strange to be going into shed in only less than 2 weeks?? Although she grew 17 grams in the week, still seems like a fast shed turn around? Thanks...Sizzle a girl...who wudda thunk?...lol

Have you taken her to the Vet yet? I am waiting to see what the Vet diagnose was.

Sizzle shed and bumps were gone!!! full body shed...almost a clean one...Feeling good about his new diggs...humidity and temps must be OK. Vet trip went good and he said for $135!!!+ $50 in fuel that she was fine and healthy....could have bought another python and setup...nice to come up with that $$$ at Xmas...sorry for whining...just alot of money for what he did...15 minutes work..3 hours driving for me...said I did good work on his blisters and scale rot though..there was another charge if I wanted her probed...thank god I had a local guy do it for free! Vets are definately in it for the $$$$$$

Well you can say that again. Vets are SO in it for the dough! But at least Sizzle is okay! Congradulations! With the shed and the little bumps!

I certainly agree! It would have been educational for the rest of us.
