hello, im new to this forum and i have a new juvenile ball named ace, he's my first and i have ALWAYS wanted one and i love him like you'd love a dog. My question is, what is the proper humidity level and temp. level inside of his cage? he's in a glass 20l terrarium with collapsible lid with air holes and a screen on top of that with locks. there is a little bit of fog around the bottom corners of the cage, but its comfortable when you put your hand in. he seems very happy and he's warm and very active when you get him out. the bedding i am using is, Aspen bedding. i will be adding a hide away cave and logs and stuff later. thanks for the help:]
heres a picture of Ace in his tank.

well welcome to the forum first off, proper temps are 80 cool and 90 on the hot side and humidity should be between 50 to 60%. Nice look snake you have, anymore questions feel free to look around and use the search to find topics to see if your questions have been answered. I hope you learn a lot.

Welcome!!
Make sure you review the Ball Python Caresheet in this forum!
I hope you will get hides soon, along with digital temp and humidity gauges. Hides are extremely important for your BP's health, so if it's going to be a little while before you get them, I highly recommend putting in some temporary cardboard ones or something.
Also, your water bowl should ideally be big enough for the BP to have a bath in.
What are you using for heat right now?
Good luck!!

WELCOME!
In Photobucket, when you click the IMG link..it should say (in very small words), "Copied." Then all you need to do is right click and paste here. NO need at all to do it the complicated way.

I hate to break your heart... But ace doesn't look like a juvenile to me ... he's almost full size if I'm not mistaken. That being said HE looks great!!!just make sure you follow up with ^^^ everyones suggesions and even though it's fun, be carefully of overhandling considering you just got him. 1-2 weeks is what everyone usually recommends (just to get him fuly settled and not stressed out) Good luck and welcome!

He does look kind of big. He's nice!
I think having him out for an hour+ is a little too long IMO. I usually taken them out for maybe 15 mn

No its not weird for them to come out to say hello when you open the cage because they learn your footstep patterns and knows its you so you give him food and haven't ate him yet so he maybe developing trust for you. Dont worry about the pooping my snake only defecates once every 3 weeks or so, so it isn't a bad thing he hasnt pooped yet. Though if it goes to long you may want to bathe him to loosen him up a little and check to make sure there is no chance of being able to eat the substrate since that could cause impaction. But its good to see you are loving your new friend.

Cool hide!
Are you getting those temp/humidity readings from the analog gages on the top right corner of the tank? If so you might want to get yourself some digital ones and place them ground level (you want to measure substrate temps)

What you ideally want to know is (1) the temp of the surface where the bp is crawling around and (2) the ambient temp, no more than couple of inches above the substrate--at least, not at the top of the tank where your bp generally won't be hanging out. Digital thermometers with probes are the best thing (you don't have to overspend on reptile-specific thermometers, get them at wal-mart or somewhere else cheap).
PlayBall is right, analog will not give you accurate readings and so are really no good to you, and I would avoid anything stick-on as BPs love to climb on these and often pull them down, getting adhesive on themselves which can potentially pull out scales.
Also, he might appreciate a second hide so that he can feel as secure on the cool side as he can on the warm!
One more thing (sorry)--is there any space between the UTH on the bottom of the tank and the surface it's sitting on? It looks like your tank is right on the carpet there and if the UTH is against the floor that could build up heat which could be dangerous. If there is no clearance under there, you will want to create some.
