Hi everyone,

just trying to get some clarification on 100% Het for Albinos. I've been looking into picking a pair or two and have noticed a lot of breeders selling 100% hets for very reasonable prices however, my concern is that they may not be hets and I do realize that when you buy hets you are always taking a chance with the genetics.

If the adult breeders to produce these hets were an Adult Albino male bred to a Normal female wouldn't you get possible hets instead of 100% hets? Just curious.

Albino to normal produces 100% hets. Het to het produces possible hets.

Hope this helps.

Ron,

thanks for the information. I'm a lot less hesitant to purchase het for albinos now.

You really have to be careful these days. What's to stop someone from buying a normal and making a KILLER PROFIT by marketing them as hets? Buyer beware!

OR just purchase from Ron (if he has any) or he can lead you to them. No risk then! Cool

I have 1.1 hets for pied, which is a recessive gene trait.....so won't a clutch of hets to hets produce ..... 25% chance of normals, 50% chance of hets and 25% chance of homos.....and are those percentages per clutch or per egg........

just for simplicity......lets say I have a clutch of 4 eggs.....1 normal, 2 hets, and 1 homo.....wouldn't the following be true.....

the normals should be 66% possible for hets....

the hets should be 100% hets.......

the homo's should be the visual morph

Albino is also a recessive gene...... and I think the way recessive gene traits work is......if you breed a visual albino (homozygous) to a normal...... all offspring will be 100% het for that gene.......

That is wrong, what you *should* get is 1 Pied Ball and 3 normal looking snakes with 2 of them being 66% poss. hets.

well, all three normals would be 66% possable hets. But two of them should turn out to be hets while the other is just a normal right?
