last night the power went out in my neighborhood - it's starting to get pretty cold here at night - mid 60s.
this left cupcake without any heat! i left her in her warm hide for a while - it retained the leftover heat for a while, but then she started to get cold and i put her in a smaller container with one of those theraputic heat pads for (people) injuries that need to be recharged so i only had one shot with it - it lasted a few hours. it got down to the low 70s high 60s in there and there was literally nothing i could do. i took her out and was trying to give her my body heat and stuff but eventually i had to go to bed, so i put the other heating pad (i have 2) in there and wrapped blankets around her cage to try to keep the heat in.
luckily, she lasted the night and now the power is back on, but it was a terrible experience for the both of us.
does anyone have any suggestions to prepare for if this happens again?

I would suggest a small generator, and or stock up on heat packs. Set aside a small container that can hold heat (with the heat packs) for just instances like this if you can't get the generator.
Glad you both survived alright.

thanks
i was so stressed out i was really expecting to wake up with no cupcake, especially because i got up in the middle of the night and she was barely moving :(.
she's been in her warm hide all day now... poor girl.
yeah i think i'm going to stock up on more of those heating pads.
