Just how long had this snake been left unattended for that kind of damage to be done??

Post pics and please get the animal to a vet ASAP.

Waaaaaaay too many questions pop up, some of which can be answered with a few good, clear pictures.
To fill in a few more blanks:
Where do you live?
What kind of ants?
Explain what you mean by "attacked".
Did you know you had an ant problem?
What drew them to the enclosure?
The questions about the degree of injury are best left to pictures.
Any other strange behavior exhibited by the snake?

Most ants are not venomous, though many species can sting and inject toxins (often formic acid, but sometimes other compounds influenced by their diet. Regardless of whether there is a venom involved, though, I (having been swarmed by ants on a few occasions) can attest to the fact that it is painful...and left unchecked they can do serious damage.

If you think your snake is dieing why are you taking the time to post here. You should be going to the vet as soon as possible.

what happen was i put the snake in another tank to feed. snake did eat but i left snake in the tank for two days to make sure it didn't give the mice back. i checked on the snake and gave it fresh water but when i checked on him the last time he was covered with ants. so my wife and i got all the ants off. i mean it was like when ants are all over something dead. there were so many ants that i did think the snake was dead. but he did move so we did try to save him. but he did pass later on that night. we did call the vet but they said they could do anything. sorry if it took me long to reply but i do work so i only can get on the net late at night

Sorry to hear your loss. Crying or Very sad

What part of the country - or world - do you live in if I may ask? I'm very curious to know what type ant could have possibly done this.

Was the other tub just an empty tub you use for feeding or what? what was in it? How could ants of gotten in? Dont take this the wrong way but it does not sound like you are a responsible snake owner.

Ditto! Also I wan't to know if you were feeding inside or outside and why? Pics of the tank and the snake would have been helpful. Cool
