|
Alright so I got my baby ball python three days ago from a Petco and was told it only eats thawed mice or the term he used was '' fuzzies''. The guy said that he hasnt fed the snakes in several days and it was approaching feed time. And that the snake looked hungry.
So today (on the third day) I waited for it to get accustumed to its home and tried to feed it. My snake simply slithered over said fuzzy several times and looked at it not at all interested. I moved the fuzzy around trying to get its attention too make it seem like it was alive and in return the snake struck at me.
I prepared the fuzzy by soaking it in warm water for several minutes from its frozen state in a bag and then plopped it in the snakes home once it was thawed and warm.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Hey Mike and welcome to RC Forums!
Congrats on your new baby...too bad you got it from petco though! Just my .02ct
Anyhow...we love to see pics so please feel free to introduce us to your new ball and the set up.
Make sure you have your temps and humidity correct and please dont feed again for a few days.
If FT doesnt work you can always try live.
Please feel free to search the forums for tips/ideas from our great members. Not everyone feeds FT but some have come up with great ideas to feed them to their snakes successfully.
Post pics soon....and WELCOME.

it probably struck you by accident?? your best friend will be tongs tongs tongs tongs tongs (read that with the thong song theme haha) but yeah, i fed my bp the other day and i just recently got mine a month ago?? he was hungry cuz he was out and about toss the FT mice in and he went up to it, NOW if i was to put my hand in and lifted the mice up to move it then he would have MOST LIKELY nailed my hand, so lucky for me i used a pair of tongs to hoist the mice up as if its alive and before i got a good angle he went for it anywayz. but tongs will make feeding alot easier....the not getting bite part but sometimes they jus won't eat, happened a few times. just give it a few days off and try again. or maybe when you see their actively moving around.

Welcome to the forum Mike!
Don't worry, the first time is always the hardest. It was probably to soon for him to eat. He needs more time to get used to his new home. Give him another five days or so. Make sure his tank has what he needs (right temps, humidity, couple hides, clean water, right substrate) Don't try to handle him until his next meal. Make sure the mouse is fully thaw and warm before feeding it to your snake. And like Py said feel free to search the forums. There's a lot of threads about ball pythons not eating. Good luck

Yup Yup.. and Mike, also read my 2 threads. First one about being a new bp owner and the 2nd "yay he ate" thread. Both are right up your ally. Only difference was that I got mine from a non-distinguished breeder, not at a Petco.
