So last night was feeding night for all of my snake's. I tried feeding the bp's first and everyone of them was a NO go. So I moved on to the corn snake's. All of my corn's are small aprox.6 to 8 month's. They are all on f/t and not a single one has ever missed a meal in the entire time i've had them and I purchased them right after hatching a couple of weeks. Candy the first Corn snake I ever purchased is my favorite i'm sure a lot of you remember pics of her i've posted many times. She is the ideal snake keeper's dream. She is very predictable with feeding, shedding, activity everything could not be more perfect with this snake. She is the easiest of all of my snake's to keep I never have to worry about anything with her. I think you get the picture on easy she is to care for now lol.
Anyway's last night I fed her last. I just purchased 10 f/t mice the other day. I was feeding fuzzy's but had to give two at a time. These are not quite hopper's but a little smaller. Actually in my opinion there the perfect size for her. Okay so I got her out last night and handled her for a while and then placed her in the tub I use for feeding. I placed the mouse in she grabbed it and started eating. I used this time to spot clean her tank and change her water. I watched her finish and move the just eaten mouse down her mid section. I then picked her up and placed her back into the enclosure and closed the lid. I was cleaning another tub as I watched her and she went around her tank a couple of times and then went through her water dish and got a drink and went straight out of it. At this point I wasn't watching her anymore. About an hour later I went back in there just to check on things and there was the mouse I had just fed her in the water dish and some kind of nasty looking throw up like substance. It was really runny almost like loose stool. This was in a different area of the tank not in the water bowl. I don't know if it is stool or where she threw up.
I am wondering and i'm going to place another thread in a different section but could it have been that the water was too cold? I always clean and disenfect the water dishes and then replace them with the coldest water from the faucet. She went in her water almost right after eating and me replacing the water. Could it have been the cold water shocked her and made her regurge her meal? The feeding procedure's are the same feeding procedure's I have always used on her nothing has changed and I have never had a problem.
I can't emphisize enough how great of a feeding response and everything that come's with keeping snake's has been with this particular snake. I know people say they don't have personality's but I can prove wrong with her if I remove her lid she come's straight to my hand and then straight to my nose and she'll flick her tongue on my nose for a minute and then go about her business while i'm holding her. This in my mind has been the perfect snake and I love her to death. So you can see where my concern come's in here.
As for the set-up it's a 10gallon one small uth, with a t-stat temps are about 88 hot side and 78 on the cool. Humididty is around 40 to 50 as corn's don't need as much humidity as bp's. The enclosure itself is perfect and I have never had to ever change anything. I have never even had to adjust temps before with her.
Don't mind the stick on thermometers as i've said before this is an old aquarium. I have a thermometer in there for her....[/size]

i guess it may be possible for the water to have been too cold. i would also look along the lines and it seems you feed f/t regularly but was it possible for the prey item to have been too hot or cold? once digested if either of the temps were far out of range she may have regurged on purpose suspecting that something was wrong. i would give her a week off feed (she wont starve) and monitor her behavior closely. if it happens again i would take her to the vet. best of luck and keep us updated.

Yeah those were my plans. I don't think it was the temp of the mouse I did everything the same way as always do as far as warming up the prey first. I did think about though. Thanks

I was thinking the same. Maybe since it was a bigger mouse than usual, it needed to be thaw out for longer time than you're already used to with the smaller mice. Also how soon after she finished eating did you grab her to put her back in the tank?

The same as always. I always make sure to wait until she is done moving down in her body and start's moving around. I have fed her like this for the past 8 month's or more, and it's never created a problem. I'm always extremely carefull when moving them back. The mouse I fed is not much bigger than the one's she's used to and I did let it thaw out longer than usuall. The water situation is the only conclusion I can come up with. She is in shed but I have fed her I can't count how many time's while she was in shed and it didn't bother her so I don't think it's that either.

Yeah, I feed my Cal. king while in shed too. I guess it has to be the cold water.

Or maybe even the cold water bowl. You know how the always stay on the warm side after a meal. She probably thought it was too cold to keep the meal inside her
