I recently purchased a bp about 2 weeks ago and I am unsure if he is in the shedding process or not. His stomach seems rough when I am handling him. Should I put him in warm bath water or would this upset him if he's not in shed? Thanks! :D

Well is the eyes going blue yet and has the colors dulled out as well? Those are signs of going into shed and no bathing isnt gonna hurt your ball python the only thing is if you bathe them to often or if they are moist they may develop scale rot, but that is only if they are in a constantly wet enviroment, but if the eyes havent blued or dulled yet then I wouldnt soak until she has had a bad shed. Also pictures are a must of what you mean and the enclosure that way we dont go blindly into somthing that may be completely wrong and what we say ends up doing somthing bad to your BP instead of helping. Thanks.

Arlynos is right, you will know your snake is in shed if you see the skin dull and the eyes go blue for a short period. It is best not to handle your bp much if he is in a shed, but nothing you have said indicates that he is. We need more info! This is stuff you need to know to look after your bp's health.

Spend some time here and do a little research--the 'search' function is indispensable. As a new owner you need to make sure you know all you can to be a good parent! Smile Most questions you might have should already be answered here on the forum somewhere if you search, but if you have questions still we are always happy to help.

Please give us pictures, we like to see people's setups! And welcome!

ya my ball python does appear to have blue eyes but i have noticed his skin color is a bit duller. for the past couple of days he has seemed really pissy. after putting him back into his terrarium he coiled up and it looked like he was going to bite me. last night he did the same and he didnt move out of his hide all nite. do you think he might be in the shedding process, or does he just hate me? thanks for the responses!

Is the belly pink in color?

If so... this is an early sign of shed.

Was it an educational video?

He may have created it to show how to do it in the case of those that continue to keep their humidity on the low side and don't have a humid hide.

You would be surprised how much ignorance there actually continues to be out there on the simple topics such as shedding, there has been a report of a lady peeling the SKIN off her BP (blood and all) she thought she was helping it shed. Crying or Very sad
