|
I have just found that my 100 watt ceramic heater isn't working anymore. I have a infra red bulb to use in the meantime but would like to replace the CHE.
I am using a dimming thermostat (Microclimate model B1 magic eye) and I used to have to have it turned up nearly flat out to maintain 90 degrees fahrenheit on the warm side with the sensor moved away from underneath the ceramic otherwise I couldn't get the temp under the CHE to what I needed it to be.
My Royal Python is in a 36 x 18 x 18 inch vivarium, do you think that a 100 watt CHE is ideal or is 60 watt or 150 watt better?

Isn't there a rating on the box that shows the best fit for the size of the viv? I think it is rated by the height....

I'm not sure mine was from exoterra, I don't have the box anymore, I think I recently threw it away.

What sizes do others use with a three foot viv?

It may be best to let us also know how you are monitoring the temps? A CHE has the ability to raise the whole tank temp including the UTH (do you have a UTH?).
I am reading that the CHE is on a dimmer, but what about the UTH, and what exactly are you using to monitor the temps?
Without this information, we may give you erronous information that will endanger your BP.
Fresh pics would help (not many of us have the kind of memory that can recall everyone's tank and setups at any time.)
