ONE MORE THING.... Laughing Also the Pet store representative was incorrect. Balls do not get their vitamins and minerals from UV. They are noctrinal animals. They get their needs from the prey that they are fed. For this reason, rats are the preferred prey by breeders. Mice are a second option if the Ball will not eat rats.

I was thinking about the cool side as you guessed. Very Happy There needs to be a hot side for digestion 90-93. As you learn more about Balls, you will automatically understand the reasons why when something that they need is explained to you. You already got that both sides can't be the same temp..even though I wasn't clear on that point. Laughing Laughing

Hi Stumpy. It depends on of your substrate temps will remain constant in the 90s hot side and 80s cool side. The hot side needs to remain constant and the cool side can not drop below 80...to be safe. *some say 75, but I have to give leeway for the fact that thermometers are not 100% accurate.*

I no longer need heat lamps thanks to my racks!!

Hey Deb,

Nice set up; I bet you bought out all of wal-mart's Accurite temp/hydrometer gages, eh? Do you use flexwatt in your set-ups for heat? I count 17 snakes, am I right? That's quite a collection I'm impressed

Thanks, sorry for the sucky pictures, but I am in the mist of remodeling and nothing is where it should be and the camera sucks (yes, I am blaming my tools). Laughing

The racks and cages come prebuilt and yes, they use flexiwatt.. I am not a handy-woman, but if called upon, I can drive a straight nail. Laughing

17 is correct. I am waiting for my female Spider, Female Normal, and Yellow belly now. Ron knows, that i am still looking for a female yellowbelly....and an albino...I lost my focus for the mojaves and overspent (and I don't regret it, they're very beautiful)...so I still have a yellowbelly and albino female to purchase...I was going to get a male...I still might. Sometime before or right after Xmas. I need to get the ones that I have now fatter.

How did you know..someone alerted Walmart..now when I go to buy some, there may be like 2 or 4 on the shelf!! Then when I come back, there's 2 or 4 more! They are rationing me. I think they believe that I am buying a lot to resell! Twisted Evil

Hey Deb thanks for the little movie and pictures! that looks great, now with the questions lol

What one is better: the jason's jungle or boaphile?

I went to both websites to check em out and was just wondering, did both come with everything you need or is there anything additional you need to purchase?

I liked Jason's Jungle because it doesn't take forever to get here and he keeps in touch and let's you know if there will be any delays (usually not, and they come when he says they will arrive). He's also very patient about answering questions *I had a LOT in the beginning* and everything is included except the thermosat, but you can even purchase that from him too. Everything is ready to go

Boaphile...what good can I say about them? The rack eventually came, it's all in one piece too, prebuilt and shipped nothing else to buy except the thermosat, but they rarely answer emails (my preferred mode of communication) and are difficult to reach.

Is the thermostat needed? Or can you just plug it in when it gets here and monitor the temps with one of those thermometers.

You can, but I wouldn't. I like the safety of controlling the temps. I have heard (not experienced) that they can get very hot without the thermosats.
