Hey guys,
Since I came back to college Toganna has been acting very strange.
It has been hanging out on the cool side of the tank...but not only the cool side. It basically "burrowed" under the water dish. I figured it was no problem but when I tried to take Toga out to see how it was doing...it was freezing cold.
So, I tried to fill up the hole it made and I fed toga two pre-killed mice. Toga was in the log hide with the UTH for a couple minutes before returning to its "burrow".
This morning I figured Toga was freezing and couldn't function and digest so I was going to try and return it to a warm place considering its freezing - and so when I tried to wake it up slowly and pick it up it twitched its body at me violently kind of to say "back off". I didn't listen to the warnings and moved Toga and kept it on my lap for a few minutes before putting it in the basking part of the cage. When I was trying to close up the burrow so that Toga would go in the warm part of the cage - I got tagged. This is the first time Toga has shown any aggression whatsoever.
Toga was freezing cold but not using the warm parts of the tank. Could it have anything to do with kids constantly coming in and looking in and stuff?
Help!
-Ryan

Please post a pic.
The burrowing is making me think that she may be looking for a place to hide and thus must chose between security and warmth. Do you have enough hides in the tank?

Toga has two hiding spots. It has a log hide and a tree where the base has a hole where Toga often hides.
Right now he's been in the log for a while. I'm debating putting something to cover the rear of the log so it is more like a cave.....
I'll try and get a pic
Thanks
Ryan

Toga is doing great I redid the cage which not only pumped up the humidity tremendously but toga has MUCH more coverage.
I hollowed out a cave under the water dish which is over the UTH and under th elight so the water evaporates nicely and put a damp towel on the other side on the top of the tank and also blocked off 3 non-viewing sides with cardboard (i read they feel more secure this way)
hopefully togo will appreciate!
