|
We have had our snake for about 6 weeks. He is 3 1/2 feet long. He eats well, and is such a sweet snake! I though he was about to shed because his belly became pinkish and his eyes became blue. Today, both areas have returned to normal but he has not shed. Is this normal? How does the shedding process work? We tried to feed him last Saturday but he wouldn't eat. Is that because he was about to shed too? Thanks for the help!

His eyes will get cloudy, and then they will clear up right before he sheds....He might have already shed by the time you read this . The not eating thing is normal. You can offer food right after he sheds. 8) Hope this helps, and good luck!

Right before? Mine always clear up at the same time as they shed, so that means by time all the old skin is gone, their eyes are clear.

Peanut will clear up for about 3-4 days before he sheds, come to think about it so will Fang and Rosie. I guess different strokes for different ehh snakes.

If all of you have the time down to the last detail, you must be watching your snakes like hawks! LOL I only know because I don't bother them until they have finished shedding unless their cages need cleaning. How do I know they need cleaning without bothering the snakes..I open the drawers, if I smell or see nothing, I close, I don't look for the snake, which is usually hiding in it's hide. If it's in its hide, I know there is no mess in there, because if there is, they don't stay in the hide.

Well once you start getting snakes up to your neck(like Deb ) its hard to look at each one every day. But since I only have 4 I can take each one out and look for anything that might hint that something is wrong.

That's true, and because it is true, that's why my temps/ humidity has to be spot on, and the feeding schedule and etc...regular, because I don't have that kind of time. ((at least not yet.)) Plus, mine are in the kind of setups that's it's hard for anything to go wrong, (burns, scale rot, etc) I have 2 that I handle on a regular basis.
So...since I have the basics taken care of...I can get more snakes!!

I'm still stuck on filling out the "new baby book" on my guys. I've always got my nose stuck in their business. Probably why Eko stays in his hide; he's tired of seeing me
