If you have your ball python in a tank with a screen lid chances are your humidity is too low. Here are a few quick tips on how to boost your humidity. If you have a method that is not listed and has worked for you please tell Deb, Ron, or me and we will add it. Very Happy

Covering 75% of the screen with either a towel, plastic or tape can raise the humidity greatly. Using a wet towel will raise it even more, but you have to wet the towel often.

Using a substrate that holds humidity well can also boost humidity. I would suggest cypress mulch. If a substrate is used that holds too much water, or is always kept wet your ball may get scale rot. Remember, you want the water in the air, not on the ground.

A humidity hide is a great way to raise the humidity in a small area instead of the whole cage. To do this take a container big enough for your snake to fit into. Then cut a hole just big enough for your snake to fit thru. After this fill half of the container will moss or another substrate that holds water well. Remember you want the substrate moist, not wet. Place the hide on the warmer side of the tank to help raise the humidity inside.

Placing the water dish on the hot side of the tank can also raise the humidity. Remember that you will have to change the water more often because of the rapid algae and bacteria growth from the warm water.
